Budget greetings card chain Card Factory has moved into online retailing with the acquisition of personalised gifts and cards retailer GettingPersonal.co.uk. GettingPersonal.co.uk has been sold by its founders to Yorkshire-based rival Card Factory for an undisclosed sum.

The £11.5m turnover Wythenshawe-based company was founded by John Smith and Giles Harridge in 2005 and saw revenues grow 22 per cent in the year to 31 March.

Wakefield-based Card Factory, the greetings card retailer sold by entrepreneur Dean Hoyle to private equity firm Charterhouse for £350m last year, said its latest move formed part of its growth strategy.
