Financial advisory firm Grant Thornton UK has acquired the litigation support consultancy Legal.
The acquisition, which was for an undisclosed sum, was made to expand Grant Thornton’s forensic advisory team.
London-based Legal provides litigation support services to businesses by analysing company information stored across a range of media including blackberries and computer discs. Legal’s software allows them to review and manage large amounts of data, which is needed in forensic investigations.
The founding partners of Legal, Lisa Burton and Dipak Patel, will remain with the company and lead the eDiscovery solutions team.
Grant Thornton provides financial services including audit and accountancy to public and private UK companies. In the year to June 2010, the firm declared a pre-tax profit of £77.6 million on a turnover of £379.7 million.
