Global security services group G4S Plc has acquired UK financial security companies Secura Monde International and Shiremoor International.

The businesses were acquired from individual shareholders and have combined assets of £1.7 million. Both companies specialise in banknote and security print technologies, and the acquisitions fit into G4S’s strategy of expanding its cash management services to financial institutions.

Berkshire-based Secura Monde implements anti-counterfeiting strategies for multinationals, while Shiremoor in Newcastle provides technical support to commercial and state-owned banknote printers.

The double deal comes shortly after the disposal of the company’s manned security business in France to Neo Securite.

Shadbolt LLP represented G4S in the deal. The team was led by Andrew Trotter, head of corporate, who advised on the simultaneous acquisition of the companies. Paul Henty and Andy Poulton carried out the legal due diligence.
