G4S continues in acquisition push

Security services business G4S has made its third purchase of 2011 with the acquisition of the offender technology operation Guidance Monitoring.

According to G4S, the purchase, for an undisclosed amount, is aimed at further developing its secure people monitoring services in new and existing markets.

Guidance Monitoring designs and manufactures a range of electronic monitoring technologies such as hardware and software used for offender monitoring and tracking.

Leicester-headquartered Guidance Monitoring recently won contracts to become the sole provider of technology to the national electronic monitoring programmes in Saudi Arabia, Norway and France.

David Taylor-Smith, regional CEO of G4S UK & Africa comments: ‘We believe [Guidance Monitoring’s] market-leading technology provides the best platform for future global expansion in the offender monitoring marketplace.’

The buy follows G4S’s £10.2 million deal for surveillance providers The Cotswold Group earlier this month.

G4S employs 625,000 people in 120 countries.
