NSSC provides consultancy services for the nuclear power industry and the public sector and generated turnover of $21 million in 2008. West Sussex-based G4S made six acquisitions in 2009, the most recent being Hong Kong company Hill & Associates in November.

Grahame Gibson, regional president for G4S North America, said: ‘With the acquisition, we can combine NSSC’s consulting, analytic, and technical capabilities with G4S’ existing expertise to become a fully integrated security solutions provider for multiple customer sectors, with a particular focus and expertise in the chemical and nuclear sectors.’

In the six months to June, G4S reported an 11.8 per cent rise in sales to £3.5 billion and pre-tax profits of £128.6 million.
