Chromatide, a developer of polymer technologies for use in pharmaceutical and chemical production, has raised venture capital finance from two existing investors.

Enterprise Ventures, a Lancashire-based venture capitalist, and Alliance Fund Managers, which invests in businesses based in Merseyside, invested from the RisingStars Growth Fund II and the MSIF Liverpool Seed Fund respectively.

The amount of the funding was undisclosed, but given the maximum investments the funds can make, it is unlikely to be more than £5 million and may be substantially less.

Cheshire-based Chromatide will use the investment to continue to grow its intellectual property portfolio and develop licence partnership opportunities.

CEO Clare Hildred says the company is developing technologies in the areas of polymer synthesis, biomolecule purification, chemical processes and instrument design.
