Venture capital consortium Seraphim Capital has led a second round of funding for Handmade Mobile Entertainment, which runs cross-platform flirting service Flirtomatic. The investment of £2 million comes just a year after the service’s launch.

Seraphim is investing alongside existing investors Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures and Kiosk Services, who seed-funded the business.

Mark Boggett, Seraphim’s investment director, led the deal. He says: ‘Our research demonstrated that, based on current monthly page impressions, Flirtomatic is already one of the top ten mobile internet sites in the UK.’

Flirtomatic is touted as the UK’s first online flirting tool to offer an uninterrupted service across web and mobile. Its registration base is 380,000 and it has achieved 100 million page views per month across both platforms. Revenues come both from advertising, which is targeted at users according to gender, and mobile user fees.

Handmade intends to use the funding to speed international expansion and refine its proposition to advertisers.
