FLI Environmental, an Irish environmental services company, has strengthened its operations in the UK’s municipal and local authority wastewater treatment industry with the acquisitions of Brightwater Engineering and Brightwater Products & Services for £3.7 million.

The Waterford-based acquirer was advised by Frank Coombes, a director at Coombes Corporate Finance (“CCF”), who raised funding from Bank of Scotland Ireland to support the deal.

FLI approached CCF in March 2007 to help FLI expand its business into the wastewater treatment industry. Coombes said “We used our knowledge and contacts to carry out detailed research of the sector. Once Brightwater was identified as a potential opportunity, CCF project managed the deal to completion.

“There remains significant interest from our Irish clients in investing into the UK, particularly in acquiring companies in the UK environmental sector,” Coombes added.
