Filtrona buys BP Labels

Filtrona Coated & Security Products (CSP), the packaging division of plastics group Filtrona, has acquired Cardiff-based BP Labels for up to £4.5 million.


Filtrona Coated & Security Products (CSP), the packaging division of plastics group Filtrona, has acquired Cardiff-based BP Labels for up to £4.5 million.

Filtrona Coated & Security Products (CSP), the packaging division of plastics group Filtrona, has acquired Cardiff-based BP Labels for up to £4.5 million.

The acquired company manufactures self-adhesive labels for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, while CSP specialises in security tags and specialist packaging and employs 330 staff.

Tony Edwards, managing director of CSP, says: ‘We can deliver significant benefits from utilising our existing global commercial and operational footprint to access new markets for BP’s products.’

Filtrona reported an increase in revenue of 2.8 per cent to £444 million in 2009, while pre-tax profits fell by 30.8 per cent to £32.3 million.
