Fagerhult secures deal for Designplan

Designplan Lighting, which manufactures and distributes outdoor lighting, has been acquired by Fagerhult Group for £10 million.

Founded in 1963 and headquarted in Surrey, Designplan currently employs 180 people and provides lighting primarily for environments where weather and vandal resistant lighting is needed.

Sweden-based Fagerhult supplies energy-efficent lighting installations in 17 countries.

Paul Barton, Fagerhult’s regional director for the UK, Ireland and the Middle East comments: ‘With this acquisition we will further strengthen our position in the important UK market.’

David Cumper, former owner of Designplan comments: ‘The decision to pass ownership to Fagerhult was an emotional one after 48 years of family ownership. However the obvious business case for the good of Designplan going forward ultimately made the decision a very simple one.’

According to a statement released by the company, former owners David and Michael Cumper will remain involved with the business for a year to assist with the transition.
