A developer of software designed to support healthcare professionals has been bought by its chief executive. CliniSys, which specialises in laboratory information management systems, was sold to a team led by Fiona Pearson.
The deal was agreed for £61 million plus an earn-out of up to £2 million. The company was sold by its founding shareholders, some of whom re-invested in the business.
Pearson was also backed by mid-market buy-out specialist ECI Partners. Post-completion, the firm has strengthened ClinSys’ management by introducing Ken Briddon to the board as chairman. Briddon is a former chief executive of software firm JBA.
This is not the first IT support services company ECI has invested in following its acquisitions of Aerial Facilities in January and M2 Digital last September.
Pearson and ECI plan to take advantage of the increasing spend on healthcare IT software by expanding the business through organic and acquisitive growth.
The Surrey-based company was established 20 years ago and today employs more than 200 healthcare IT professionals throughout its business, which includes operations in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Germany.
