Jonathan Diggines, who quit as boss of Murray Johnstone Private Equity back in October, has resurfaced as chief executive of North of England and Midlands-focused investment group Enterprise Ventures.

Diggines’ departure caused something of a stir during the autumn, as he was rumoured to be eyeing up a possible management buyout of Murray Johnstone shortly before handing in his notice. Instead he finds himself at the helm of Enterprise, which has £45 million under management (a modest amount in comparison to the £360 million he managed for Murray) and will look to invest tranches of between £5,000 and £2 million in expanding firms within Enterprise’s target regions.

He succeeds Enterprise’s founder Richard Bamford in the role of chief executive, with the latter adopting the role of executive chairman. ‘I am really pleased that Jonathan Diggines is able to join Enterprise Ventures’ Bamford commented with respect to the changes. ‘We have achieved a lot at Enterprise Ventures, but we do not intend to stop here and I can think of no one better than Jonathan to work alongside me to continue our growth plan’.
