Investec makes £10m appointment with Clyde Munro
Investec has increased its investment in Scottish dental practice chain Clyde Munro Dental Group by another £10m to £30m. The cash injection will enable Clyde Munro to pass a milestone of owning 50 practices in the coming weeks. Scotland’s largest dental group already has more than 400,000 patients on its books.
Béa Fertility seeds £800,000 in start-up funding
Healthcare start-up Béa Fertility has raised £800,000 to launch its pioneering at-home fertility treatment later this year. Calm/Storm VC led the round with Q Ventures. Béa Fertility has also won an innovation grant from the recent InnovateUK SMART competition.
Apaleo books £3.8m in Series A funding
Apaleo, the digital service creation platform for hospitality, has closed a €4.5m (£3.8m) Series A funding round with London-based Force Over Mass, Redalpine from Zurich, and Bayern Kapital from Munich.
Nix & Kix glugs down £700,000 crowdfunding raise
Drinks brand Nix & Kix has smashed a £500,000 crowdfunding target in one day, as well as landing a distribution deal with Coca-Cola-backed Iris Nova for a US launch. Nix & Kix has raised just under £700,000 on Seedrs and will continue overfunding, with the money being used for marketing, boost its e-commerce platform and grow its sales team. The brand has sold over 5m drinks to date through over 7,500 distribution outlets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
YoungPlanet goes into orbit after fundraise
YoungPlanet, an app which encourages sharing of children’s items such as books, clothes and baby equipment, has raised over £500,000 on Crowdcube. Indeed, YoungPlanet smashed its minimum target of £350,000 within seven hours of the campaign going live. YoungPlanet already has a £6.5m valuation as part of a sharing economy estimated to be worth £9bn within the next five years.
