Fable tells the right story for True
True, the London-based venture capitalist, has led a $2.7m (£1.9m) seed round for Canadian home accessories business Fable Home alongside fellow VCs Sandpiper VC and Mavan Capital. Fable Home specialises in designer sustainable dinnerware. Accenture recently reported that 60 per cent of consumers have been making more environmentally friendly, sustainable or ethical purchases since the pandemic began.
Vira Health taps £1.5m seed round for Stella app
Vira Health, creator of the Stella app to help women cope with menopause, has raised £1.5m in seed funding. LocalGlobe, MMC Ventures and angel investors including Hearst Ventures managing director Megumi Ikeda, former Spotify executive Sofia Bendz and Simon Lambert, former CTO of Treatwell, all participated. Stella offers women going through menopause a personalised three-month treatment plan through its iOS app.
CrowdProperty draws investors together again
CrowdProperty, the crowdsourced property finance portal for housing developers, has closed another oversubscribed £1.8m equity fundraise through Seedrs. To date, crowdfunders have backed the property finance portal to the tune of £3.9m. CrowdProperty recently announced a £300m institutional funding line for its funding portal. So far, CrowdProperty has funded the building of 1,535 homes worth £309m between them.
Supercritical hots up with £2m pre-seed round
And LocalGlobe also led a £2m pre-seed fundraise for Supercritical, an online platform which helps businesses measure their climate impact and sells carbon-removal offsets – the only type of carbon offset which contributes towards net zero by taking carbon out of the sky. To keep warming below 1.5°c – one of the key goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement – at least 8bn tonnes of carbon need to be removed from the atmosphere every year. As a result, it’s expected that the voluntary carbon offset market will be worth at least $100bn by 2030.
Ember glows with £1m crowdfunded investment
Ember Snacks, best known for its award-winning biltong and British charcuterie snacks, has smashed its crowdfunding target raising over £1m from investors. The snack brand sold £1.75m worth of meat snacks in 2020 and now has distribution in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
