Cyber security company Pikewerks, a privately-held business, is to be used by Raytheon to boost its protection for customers in the intelligence and defence sectors.
Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon’s Intelligence and Information Systems business, comments: ‘Like Raytheon, Pikewerks is built on the commitment to undertake the hardest problems and apply creativity and innovation to push the limits of technology.
‘Developers at Pikewerks are experts who have taken technology from concept to deployment, and we are excited to welcome them as members of our team.’
Since 2007 Raytheon has made eight other cyber-related acquisitions as it looks to move towards digital protection.
US-Headquartered Raytheon has its UK base in Essex.
The deal follows on from recent army and air force contract wins for Pikewerks. Chief executive officer Michael Ring will remain with the company upon completion of the deal.
