Sheffield-based Tangentix, which has developed technology to improve the graphics of video games, has received funding from Enterprise Ventures.

The firm invested from its RisingStars Growth Fund, which backs UK-based companies with equity injections of up to £2 million. The amount invested in Tangentix has not been disclosed but the company is described by founder Professor Hassan Ugail of the University of Bradford as being at the ‘proof of concept stage’.

Ed French, an investment director at Enterprise Ventures, says the next challenge is to take Tangentix’s concept through to commercialisation.

The company’s technology has potential applications in the game production and distribution industries as well as among manufacturers of silicon devices used in computers and consoles.
