Telecommunications specialist Cambridge Broadband has raised $22.5 million (£11.4 million) of funding. Taking part in the round were existing investors Amadeus Capital, Accel Partners and TVM Capital, together with new investor Adara Ventures.

Since receiving funding of £4.5 million this time last year, the compay has expanded into the mobile phone market, gaining customers such as MTN and Vodacom. It hopes this latest injection of capital will enable it to continue sales growth and penetrate further into the transmission market, particularly for cellular operators.

As well as expanding its sales infrastructure in the past 12 months, Cambridge Broadband has strengthened the company’s managerial and operational teams. Following the appointment of Bjorn Krylander as CEO in January 2006, a new CFO, Joe Byrne, and vice-president of operations, Graham Peel, have been appointed.

The Cambridge-based company has close to 100 staff with offices in Malaysia, South Africa and manufacturing facilities in both China and the UK.
