Cambridge Broadband gets $7.5m

Cambridge Broadband Networks, a privately held provider of intelligent point-to-multipoint microwave backhaul services, has secured $7.5 million.

Cambridge Broadband Networks, a privately held provider of intelligent point-to-multipoint microwave backhaul services, has secured $7.5 million (£5.2 million) of new financing from existing investors Accel Partners, Adara, Amadeus Capital Partners and TVM.

The funds will be used to develop VectaStar, a portfolio of backhaul services for mobile broadband networks, which is used by MTN Group, Vodacom and Maxis Telecom.

The company, with headquarters in the UK, operations in Malaysia and South Africa and manufacturing facilities in China, says there has been significant upturn in demand for VectaStar products.

Graham Peel, CEO of Cambridge Broadband Networks, said: “Our performance in the past year and our strong positive outlook are evidence of mobile operators embracing VectaStar as the next-generation technology that meets their existing and future backhaul requirements.”
