Advantage Capital was led by its founders Martin Bodenham and Trevor Jones. Butters specialises in supplying house and garden plants to large retail chains such as Marks & Spencer, Tesco and B&Q.

Founded in 1973, it now employs about 600 people and generates revenues of £40 million. The company made a pre-tax loss of £107,000 for the year to September 2005.

Based in Spalding, Lincolnshire, the company has doubled its size during the past five years. Its management believes the company can double again in the next five years.

DLA Piper advised Advantage Capital and Browne Jacobson represented Butters.
