  • Stainless steel company Outokumpu has acquired Italian firm SoGePar Group from the Borromeo family for €215 million (£94 million). Both companies have steel plants in the UK
  • Legal services training consultancy Altior has been acquired by Cardiff-based professional training provider Kaplan Professional for an undisclosed sum.
  • Newcastle-based STR enterprises has bought Wallsend Golf Club for an undisclosed sum, as it looks to expand its portfolio.

  • William Hill has registered an interest in buying parts of state-owned bookmaker Tote. Earlier this month, the government announced the possible sale of the business on the open market.
  • Huntingdon-based humidity firm Munters, has agreed to acquire air conditioning firm Toussaint Nyssenne for €7.7 million (£6 million)
  • Cranfield-based fleet management firm Trafficmaster Plc, is to pay up to £4.8 million for TriMex Group, a company specialising in cargo tracking and stolen vehicle tracking
  • Dairy Crest has announced the proposed sale of its Stilton and specialist cheese business to Long Clawson Dairy for a reported £4.4 million. The deal is expected to complete by August
  • Whitbread Plc has announced a deal with Mitchells & Butlers Plc to acquire 21 Holiday Express Inns in exchange for 44 Whitbread Pub Restaurants
