British businesses figure highly in Deloitte 2013 Technology Fast 500

The UK has finished second behind France in Deloitte's 2013 Technology Fast 500 of fastest-growing tech companies in Europe.

As part of its efforts to rank the fastest-growing public and private technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in Europe, professional services firm Deloitte has revealed an overall average revenue growth rate of 1,403 per cent for the top 500.

UK-based media and entertainment business Infectious Media has been ranked in the top ten after posting five-year revenue growth of 9,774 per cent (see table below).

Of the 500 companies in the ranking, the UK contributed 71 – down from the 74 included in 2012 and 86 in 2011.

French digital cinema business YMagis was awarded top spot having achieved a growth rate of 59,096 per cent through its efforts in transitioning 35mm film to a more ‘efficient digital solution’.

According to Deloitte, the software sector represented 43 per cent of the overall rankings, with the next biggest contributor being the internet sector with 22 per cent.

Other British companies to make it into the top 50 include software company Avecto (23rd, 4,731 per cent revenue growth), internet business AlertMe (39th, 3,393 per cent) and telecoms/networking venture Mobile Account Solutions (41st, 3,332 per cent).

Infections Media, which has offices in London, Paris and Hamburg, has produced a real-time advertising technology which enables the buying of traded media across display, video, mobile and social networks.
