A Scotland-based company that hosts early morning networking events is set to develop its operations after receiving an undisclosed investment. Bacon, Eggs & Entrepreneurs (BEE) secured the five-figure sum from Amanda Boyle, who becomes its executive chairperson.

Boyle, who recently exited shop-fitting and commercial interiors contractor Caledonia Contracts, now owns 50 per cent of BEE with founder Tricia Fox holding the balance.

Fox tells GrowthBusiness.co.uk that the funding will be used to upgrade the company’s technology and possibly to open new branches: ‘We have funded it very much organically for the last three and a half years through sales income but there is more demand than we can keep up with.’

She adds that Boyle has been her mentor for some four years and spoke to her about the options for growing the business: ‘During the course of that conversation she suggested that she come on board and do it.’

BEE operates informal speed networking events where subscribers can arrive any time between 9-11am and stay for as long as they like. The company has branches in Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham as well as ten in Scotland.
