The acquisition, for an undisclosed amount, follows the decision last year by auditors KPMG to put Buckingham Bingo, which owned the two websites, up for sale. Earlier this month the bingo operator’s clubs were broken up and sold to rival operators in a deal worth £20 million.
John Haddock, managing director of Betfred comments: ‘This is a great acquisition for Betfred of a leading brand in the bingo market. Our intention is to continue with the Bucky brand and it will be business as usual.’
Buckingham Bingo, which operates bingo clubs in the north of England, was advised on the sale of its online operation by gaming advisers at KPMG.
