UK-based website company BaseKit has received funding from technology investors the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) and Eden Ventures.

BaseKit specialises in powering business websites and was one of the winners of Seedcamp 2008, a technology start-up competition in Europe.

The investment will allow BaseKit to launch a beta version of the platform, which will make it easier for small and medium-sized businesses to create websites with little technical knowledge.

Jonathan Kestenbaum, chief executive of NESTA, said: ‘Digital technologies present a huge growth area for the UK economy. BaseKit’s technology makes rich website design simple and accessible to a much wider audience, putting the company in a position to take advantage of a huge market.’
