Langholm Capital has backed the MBO of Bart Spices, a Bristol-based supplier of herbs and spices.

Langholm Capital has backed the MBO of Bart Spices, a Bristol-based supplier of herbs and spices.

The deal was led by CEO Matthew Shaw, who joined the company in 2003 as sales and marketing director before being appointed CEO in 2008. Langholm Capital’s Steven Esom has joined the board as a non-Executive Chairman.

Langholm Capital is a private equity firm that specialises in investing in high growth consumer-facing businesses. Previous investments include Dorset Cereals, Tyrrells Potato Chips and Just Retirement.

The transaction is the first investment from Langholm Capital’s second fund, which expects to reach a final close in quarter two 2010. HSBC provided the debt package for Langholm Capital from its Bristol-based leveraged finance team.
