Red Arrow Entertainment, a subsidiary of a German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, has acquired a 51 per cent stake of film production house The Mob Film.

The UK-based production company has produced work for TV adaptations of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, winning British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for its work.

The deal is Red Arrow Entertainment’s first acquisition in the UK following the creation of the Red Arrow Entertainment Group in January 2010 as a company of ProSiebenSat.1.

Group managing director of Red Arrow, Jan Frouman, believes the deal will be a ‘hugely exciting partnership’.

He adds: ‘Red Arrow’s strategy is to invest in the very best talent. The team [Mob Film] also has a deep understanding of new technologies like 3D, which are going to be of such importance to the global market in the future.’

Ian Sharples, partner at The Mob Film, comments: ‘The [deal] with the Red Arrow Entertainment Group is a great opportunity for us.’

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
