Some £770,000 was raised for the West Yorkshire-based company, with the Aspire Fund investing £300,000 and the remainder provided by local business angels.

Liquid Accounts’ marketing director Lisa Kendrick founded the company along with partners Jon Wright and Matthew Holmes. Says Kendrick, ‘The money will open up new routes to market… Our focus will be on building relationships with young, ambitious accountancy firms.’

Managed by Capital for Enterprise on behalf of the government, the Aspire Fund was set up in 2008 with the objective of ‘[increasing] the number of successful female entrepreneurs within the UK’. It has £12.5 million to invest and has backed four companies so far.
