US-based ASG Software Solutions has acquired Atempo, a business that supplies data protection and backup management software.

Cloud management company ASG has six UK bases including London, Manchester and Edinburgh.

The coming together of Atempo’s backup and archiving services is said by ASG to expand its ability to automate and simplify the management of complex IT environments to reduce risk and improve service delivery.

Arthur Allen, president and chief executive officer at ASG, comments: ‘Our customers are dealing with exponential data growth and increasing complexity in meeting e-discovery and compliance regulations.

‘By integrating Atempo’s technologies into ASG’s services, we are able to provide customers with a scalable, long-term data protection service that works across any infrastructure and on any platform.’

Away from its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Atempo has 13 worldwide offices including one in London. It provides services for businesses in the media and entertainment, healthcare, telecommunications and government sectors.

Michael Wall, chief executive officer at Atempo, says that Atempo’s services will add ‘depth and efficiency’ to ASG.

He adds: ‘ASG provides Atempo a platform for growth and expansion into the cloud market and a wider global reach.’
