Fast-growing translation company Applied Language Solutions has raised up to £1.4 million from Maven Capital Partners.

The investment, which Maven is making on behalf of the government’s Capital for Enterprise Fund, will consist of two tranches, the second of which is dependent on the business performing as expected.

In addition to translation, Applied Language Solutions offers proofreading, interpretation and voiceover services. The company employs more than 100 people in offices in the UK, US, Europe, India and Guatemala.

Chief executive Gavin Wheeldon says the investment will allow the company to branch out into new territories within the coming months.

Adds Wheeldon, ‘To do this we will increase our sales presence both in existing offices and through additional recruitment in other countries, which will enable us to target growth markets, such as South America and Asia more effectively.’

Maven Capital Partners manages £30 million of the Capital for Enterprise Fund.
