Titanium powder producer Metalysis has been awarded a government grant of £1.5 million as it pledges to create 90 new jobs over three years.

The money from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward brings the total grant funding received by the company to £4.8 million. It has also secured £19 million in venture capital since it was founded in 2005.

Simon Hill, executive director of business at Yorkshire Forward, says the grant will help cement the reputation of Yorkshire and the Humber in advanced manufacturing.

Adds Hill, ‘This grant has secured the production of innovative products and entry into new markets for Metalysis.’

The Rotherham-based company is currently supplying low volumes of titanium powders and will begin to commercialise its technology next year with the launch of a semi-continuous pilot production plant.
