Cleantech investor and operator Amplio Group has bought water purification company Puresep Holdings, its first acquisition in the UK.

Amplio acquired the company through its subsidiary Amplio Filtration, which last year purchased US-based Basin Water out of administration and then formed Envirogen Technologies.

Riccardo Segat, Amplio’s CEO and founder, says there may be ‘significant cross-selling opportunities’ between the group’s US and UK investments in the water industry.

Puresep Holdings, which has sales of £3.7 million, owns Puresep Water Technologies and Puresep Filtration Technologies, which are headquartered in Lincolnshire and Herefordshire respectively.

Vince Payne, MD of Puresep Holdings, says the acquisition by Amplio ‘enables further expansion of our technology and service business model to include all aspects of water and product treatment’.

Founded in 2002, Puresep Filtration has 300 customers including Heineken, Diageo and Britvic, as well as companies in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Puresep Water was set up in 2004 and provides services including the production of ‘ultra pure’ water and water softening.
