Private equity firm Amplio has acquired Environmental Water Systems.

Private equity firm Amplio Group has acquired the water treatment company Environmental Water Systems (EWS).

The deal, which was for an undisclosed sum, is Amplio’s third acquisition in the past 12 months.

London-based Amplio Group invests in companies in the renewable energy and environmental sectors. The group currently has 75 employees across its three businesses, Amplio Solar, Amplio Filtration and Amplio Biogas, in Europe and the US.

The acquisition was made to expand Amplio’s existing water filtration subsidiary, Amplio Filtration.

Somerset-based EWS designs, manufactures and supplies water treatment systems for the healthcare and industrial sectors. The company has 38 employees and a turnover of around £5 million.

Amplio intends to combine EWS with Puresep Holdings, a water filtration company that it acquired in July 2010.

Riccardo Segat, CEO and founder of Amplio Group, comments: ‘The cross-selling opportunities between EWS and Puresep in the UK and our US filtration business, ETI, are huge. This acquisition further strengthens and develops Amplio Filtration’s scale, geographic reach, technology offering and customer mix.’
