London-based AMEC, which specialises in serving the energy sector, has bought Qedi from its owner-managers for an initial £29 million, with the remaining £4 million to be paid after two years, subject to key staff and management remaining at the business.

Qedi, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, employs 350 people and has contracts in the UK, Gulf of Mexico, Middle East and Australia.

Neil Bruce, chief operating officer of AMEC, comments: ‘This acquisition strengthens AMEC’s project delivery capability across our key sectors.’

Bruce adds that Qedi’s ‘specialist technology and expertise’ will assist AMEC in providing a better service to its clients.

AMEC employs 23,000 people in 40 countries and has annual revenues of £2.5 billion, according to a statement from the company.
