Surrey-based Gemini was founded in the late 1990s by managing director John Reaks. The company provides fire detection and suppression systems. The deal was for an undisclosed amount.

Reaks used M&A adviser BCMS Corporate to find a buyer for Gemini as he wished to retire from the company.

Alliance Protection supply, install and maintain fire protection systems and emergency lighting. The West Sussex-based company employs 36 staff, and had a turnover last year of £2.7 million. The predicted combined turnover of the businesses going forward will be roughly £4 million.

Tim Dawson, finance director at Alliance, comments: ‘We are looking to further expand the business in the future through acquisitions of fire and security related businesses especially in the North of England to give us national coverage.’

Scott Jones, deal leader at BCMS Corporate, comments: ‘There are obvious synergies between the companies and I am confident that together they will be a real force within the fire detection sector in the South East of England.’

Under the terms of the agreement, Reaks will remain with the business for a minimum of six months to ensure a smooth transition period.
