Albatross Travel undergoes MBO

Albatross Travel Group, a wholesale travel firm with some 100 staff at offices in Kent and Derbyshire, has undergone a management buy-out for undisclosed terms.

  • UK medical supplies and healthcare products company Mobilis has acquired SKF Services, a West Sussex-based supplier of physiotherapy equipment with 20 staff. The terms of the deal were undisclosed
  • Care home operator Southern Cross has continued its disposal programme by agreeing to sell its freehold interest in a property in Somerset for £7.8 million
  • Kellpak, a Glasgow-based packaging supplier, has been sold out of administration to a new company called W&M Watson Packaging for undisclosed terms
  • Begbies Traynor has sold Laser Broadcasting, an owner of radio stations in Bath, Warminster, Bridgwater and Minehead, out of administration to the owner of Exeter-based South West Radio. No further details were disclosed
  • Northamptonshire–based Butcher’s Pet Care has secured £5 million to fund the expansion of its pet food factory at Crick, Northants
  • Hill Station, a Cwmbran-based ice cream manufacturer, has been bought out of administration by a new company called Loseley Dairy Ice Cream for an undisclosed sum
  • Bedfordshire-based anaerobic digestion specialist, Biogen, has acquired engineering company, Greenfinch. The new company, called BiogenGreenfinch, secured £18 million of funding from parent company, the Bedfordia Group, to develop the business
  • UK recruitment communications agency ThirtyThree has received a £4 million funding package from Royal Bank of Scotland to enable further investment in its Southwest operation

Deals in the pipeline

  • Kent-based investment banking and financial services provider, Griffin Group, is to acquire Alexander David Holdings, a stockbroker, in a £4.8 million reverse takeover. The deal will see the company’s name change to Alexander David Securities Group
  • Midland News Association is to merge the Shropshire Star and Express & Star newspapers in Telford and Wolverhampton. No further details were disclosed
