Venture capitalist Advent Venture Partners has invested in a mobile media technology specialist. The London-based firm has given Echovox £3.8 million to strengthen its business.

Echovox, which has offices in London, Paris and Geneva, will also use the funds to develop its latest product, Zong – an online system enabling consumers, businesses and communities to create mobile services that generate revenue.

Advent partner Frédéric Court says the firm has been tracking Echovox for several years and is impressed with its performance.

Echovox, which was established in 2000, creates products to enable mobile media companies to deliver their entertainment and advertising content. It also provides live interactivity, mobile content, entertainment and storefronts to TV, radio, internet and press companies across Europe.

Advent Ventures, which has more than £500 million under management, was established in 1981 to invest in the information and communications technology and life sciences sectors.
