Acal buys BFi OPTiLAS

Technology distributor Acal has agreed to acquire BFi OPTiLAS for €10 million (£9 million) in cash.

BFi OPTiLAS is a distributor of electronic components across Europe. The France-based company generated turnover of €105 million (£94.2 million) and operating profits of €48,000 (£43,000) in the year to June. The directors of Acal expect the deal to be earnings enhancing in the year to March 2011.

Nick Jefferies, chief executive of Acal, said: ‘This transaction creates the scale required to succeed in key European markets, and enables substantial operational synergies.’

Berkshire-based Acal reported an increase in revenue of 37 per cent to £165.4 million and pre-tax profits of £500,000 in the year ending March.
