Aberdeen boards Travel Class buyout

Specialist tour operator Travel Class has completed a management buyout with backing from Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity (AMJPE).

Based in New Milton, Hampshire, Travel Class has two products: Junior Choice Adventure, providing residential courses for 8-14 year old school groups with activities such as mountain biking and abseiling; and Ski Class, which offers all-inclusive package ski and snow-boarding trips to European and US resorts.

Leading the buyout, the value of which remains undisclosed, is managing director Ian Finlay, who joined the group in 2001. Finlay professed himself ‘thrilled to have been able to lead the MBO of Travel Class,’ and added, ‘the team here is very much looking forward to growing the business and achieving our plans.’

‘We are delighted to have backed the MBO of Travel Class,’ said Sam Watkinson, Senior Investment Manager in the London office of AMJPE. ‘The management team is excellent and the business operates in an exciting niche area of the travel sector which we expect to show growth over the next few years.’

Tenon Corporate Finance in Southampton introduced AMPJE to Travel Class and also acted as adviser to the company.
