Country air has benefits

Gayna Hart, managing director, Quicksilva explains why moving to the country was her best business decision.

‘I founded [software company] Quicksilva in London in 1999. Shortly afterwards, I decided to relocate the business to Wiltshire, although we had just established it in London and were recruiting staff.

‘The new offices were converted greenhouses and came with a one-acre garden. The people I’d taken on decided to move because they were excited about the company.

‘Getting customers to visit was virtually impossible though, and for the first couple of years we had to travel to everybody.

‘The business took a hit initially. Our customers associated London with prestige but they began to realise how good this environment is to work in. It’s all about quality of life.’
