Library software purchase for Capita

Business outsourcing provider Capita Group has acquired Talis Information for £18.5 million.

Talis Information is the library division of Talis Group and supplies information management software and services to customers such as councils, government departments and higher educational institutions.

As part of the deal, £18.5 million will be paid upfront, with an additional £2.5 million dependent on Talis Information’s profit performance in the 2011-12 financial year.

Paul Pindar, chief executive of Capita, comments, ‘The acquisition of Talis Information will enable Capita to offer a wider set of services to the further and higher education markets and to local authorities.’

Talis Information has a 100 academic and public library clients based in the UK, and employs 42 staff in Birmingham.
