Venture capital firm DFJ Esprit has sold Lagan Technologies to KANA Software.


DFJ Esprit invested in Lagan in 2006 and was the largest shareholder in the company.
 The value of the Lagan deal has not been disclosed.

Belfast-based Lagan produces government-to-citizen communication software which is used by 200 government agencies worldwide. The company was founded in 1994.

Des Speed, CEO of Lagan, says: ‘Joining KANA will be highly beneficial for our global customer base, broadening the skills we can draw on and accelerating product development.’

KANA produces customer relationship management software for sectors including financial services and healthcare.

The California-based company aims to create up to 100 new jobs at Lagan’s Belfast headquarters to accommodate planned growth within the combined business. Following the deal Belfast will become KANA’s European headquarters.
