PR firm Tangent Communications has acquired digital communications company Lateral for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will bolster Tangent One, the company’s digital agency, and is an important part of Tangent’s ambition to become a top-ten digital marketing business.  Nick Gillett, Tangent One’s managing director commented: “There is a fantastic synergy between our two businesses which, we believe, will enable us to provide our clients with a ‘dream team’ of digital knowledge and expertise.”

Jon Bains, co-founder and planning director at Lateral, said: “Our ambition has always been to build a world-class digital marketing business with a true delivery focus and now, with Tangent, there is an amazing opportunity to make a significant impact on the market together, even in these trying times.”

Tangent Communications reported mixed financial results in the first half of 2008, with total revenue up 1% to £8.8 million.  Nicholas Green, Tangent Joint CEO said: “All of our businesses traded profitably during the first half and generated positive cash flow. Whilst our exposure to the property sector has reduced short term profits, in the other parts of our business sales grew by 26%.”
