Denmark’s AP Moller-Maersk Group has sold its 50 percent stake in airline Martinair, an operator of charter flights and freight services, to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines after regulators gave the nod to the sale.
KLM, an Air France unit, already owns the other half of Martinair and will become the sole shareholder as of 31 December. No further details were disclosed.
The EU Commission opened an investigation in September because of concerns regarding the deal’s potential impact on transport, in particular between Amsterdam and Curacao and Aruba in the Dutch Antilles.
