An international security group has added an event stewarding and crowd management company to its portfolio.

G4S plc, a Crawley-based company with operations in more than 100 countries, has bought the Rock Steady Group, which specialises in music and sport stadium events.

The acquired group comprises Rock Steady Security, Rock Steady Event Services, Avant-Guard Resource Services and Rock Steady Sports Events Services.

The acquisition expands G4S’s current events offering into the live music and sports arenas as well as moving its business into the north of England and Scotland.

Rock Steady Group, which generated a £12.2 million turnover in its last financial year, was sold by its founder Mark Hamilton as well as other shareholders.

The acquired business provides security services for a range of clients, including Glasgow Rangers Football Club, Scottish Rugby Union, Sheffield Arena and Lancashire County Cricket Club.

This deal follows its acquisition in December of Global Solutions, a provider of support services for governments, companies and public authorities, for £355 million, and its November takeover of Danish locksmith Byens Låseservice.

G4S supplies risk management and protection services to governments and blue chip companies as well as providing secure logistics services. It is listed in London and Copenhagen and has more than 500,000 employees.
