This follows IMAC’s initial investment of £2.25 million in June 2006, when the company was launched by CEO Malcolm Gerrie.
Following the deal, Whizz Kid plans to acquire a controlling stake in Precious Media, a ‘content exploitation’ specialist which aims to increase profits for content rights holders through strategies such as distribution through multiple outlets and securing sponsorship.
IMAC, which owns a stake of 50 per cent in Whizz Kid, says the company is set for further growth as it continues to develop its expertise in multi-platform and branded content.
Whizz Kid produces programmes in genres including entertainment, factual entertainment, events and music. The company has produced events including the Orange British Academy Film Awards, the BAFTA TV Awards, and Elton John’s 60th birthday concert.
More recent commissions include a 25-part live music series sponsored by whisky producer Jack Daniel’s and a three-part prime-time entertainment series for Channel 4.
IMAC invests primarily in unquoted media and entertainment companies. Its parent company, Ingenious Media, both advises and invests in the media sector through its various subsidiaries.
