An undisclosed capital injection from Audere Capital is being accompanied by the creation of a board position at Cake Communications for new backer Richard Alvin.
Cardiff-based Cake Communications was founded in 2011 by former journalist and PR consultant Sara Robinson and has clients in the legal, healthcare, retail and technology sectors.
With funds in the bank, Cake Communications will be opening a base in Canary Wharf to help with its growth.
Robinson comments, ‘With this new investment secured, the next year promises to be an exciting one for our team. The deal means our clients can now benefit from a range of in-house services including cutting edge tablet and smartphone publishing technology, social media apps and sophisticated research software.
‘We are also delighted to have a new director of Richard’s calibre on board. We are confident that his industry knowledge, experience in large-scale projects and track record of working with SMEs will be invaluable to us as we look to achieve growth.’
Alvin, who will be taking up the position as executive director, adds, ‘Through my investment and board membership I aim to help grown the existing client base across the UK whilst retaining the independent spirit ingrained in the company.
‘I hope that adding Cake to our portfolio of media and business activities like Trends Research can add value to our investments and our companies clients and brand strength.’
New backer Audere Capital was initially formed through the sale of a regional publishing company and an online recruitment web platform by Alvin. According to the firm, it focuses start-ups in the media, technology and fashion sectors and has portfolio companies including Capital Business Media, Tablet Local and ULE Fashion.
