Branded clothing retailer Original Shoe Company has secured an additional £2 million of development capital from Aberdeen Murray Johnstone Private Equity (AMJPE), with a view to funding its expansion plans.

Founded by managing director David Hammond in the early 1990s, the company currently operates 43 UK stores, the majority of these in Scotland and the north of England. Hammond’s plan is to open a further 20 clothing and footwear retail outlets in the next few years and AMJPE’s investment will help it initiate this process.

AMJPE has long been a supporter of Original Shoe, having first provided financial support to the business back in 1998. ‘Original Shoe is a quality, well managed business and we are delighted that we have been able to provide this investment which will support the roll-out across the UK,’ enthuses investment manager Andrew Craig.
