2ergo Group Plc, a Salford-based provider of mobile phone marketing and technology, has acquired rival Activemedia Technologies (AMT) for an undisclosed sum.

AMT specialises in mobile ticketing and couponing services. The company employs over 50 people and has operations in London, New Delhi, and Mumbai.

The deal follows the purchase of mobile technology company Broca Plc in April 2009. Barry Sharples, joint CEO of 2ergo Group plc, commented: ‘We have been looking to invest in one of the BRIC regions for some time and this deal, in one of the world’s fastest growing economies, provides a platform for further investment and growth for 2ergo in Asia.’

In the six months to February 2009, 2ergo reported a decrease in revenues of 37 per cent to £11.1 million, but an increase in pre-tax profits of 16 per cent to £1.7 million.
